Infrastructure Stabilization for a Case Management System

STSI supported a mission-critical case and asset management systems for a large federal regulatory agency. The initial release was designed and developed by another vendor – and was unstable and underperforming. STSI was tasked with redesigning the architecture and stabilizing performance.

To achieve this complex reengineering effort while maintaining ongoing operations, the project was performed incrementally over 18 months. The team designed a solution with four releases: I & II) Implement IBM WebSphere Gold Topology; III) Improve Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) job performance and archive unused data warehouse and datamart records; and IV) Improve inbound feed processing. The team also supported ongoing system maintenance and enhancements.

The project was delivered on time and on budget. The enhancements implemented by STSI improved system efficiency, enhanced system stability and reliability, and reduced response times for system reports by up to 83%. Most importantly, the system has enabled the client to support its core mission throughout the recent financial crisis, managing over 6.5 million assets.
